Conduct a periodic exam class & Evaluate level of student

This guide aims to provide teachers with instructions on administering exams to students every two units. The exams are already included in the student's lesson plans.

I. Administering the Exam

During the exam, the teacher's primary responsibility is to monitor and ensure that the exam proceeds smoothly and efficiently by:

  • Providing prompt help to students who require assistance with exam questions.

  • Collecting and reviewing the student's exam answers to ensure that they have attempted all the questions and that the answers are complete.

  • Saving a copy of the student's exam answers into a file and submitting the file to the student support department after the class.

II. Exam Review

After the students complete the exam, the teacher should review and correct the papers in the next class. If a student finishes early, the teacher can provide feedback immediately using the Answer Key Files to compare answers. The teacher should check for accuracy, identify areas of weakness, and guide the students.

III. Class Evaluation

After the exam review, the teacher should evaluate the class's progress using an Evaluation Template that includes the following five sections:

  1. Scoring breakdown: This section breaks down each student's scores in the exam.

  2. Vocabulary retention and usage: This section assesses the student's ability to remember and use the vocabulary taught in class.

  3. Grammar retention and usage: This section assesses the student's ability to remember and use the grammar rules taught in class.

  4. Learning attitude: This section assesses the student’s attitude toward learning, including their participation, effort, and behavior in class.

  5. Suggestions/advice: This section allows teachers to provide constructive feedback and advice to help students improve their performance in future exams.

Note: In sections 2, 3, and 4, the teacher can use the appropriate note template based on the corresponding score level or create one themselves.

IV. Reporting

After completing the evaluation, the teacher should send the recorded answer notes for each student to the student support department. These notes will help the student support department identify areas where students may require additional assistance. This step ensures that the necessary support and guidance are provided to the students to improve their performance in future exams.
